A video from Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district shows a tiger roaming freely in a sugarcane field. A man named Prashant Pandey shared the clip on X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday and it has been gaining traction. The 17-second video shows the tiger prowling in the sugarcane field. The video seems to have been recorded from inside a car as its bonnet is visible while the tiger is just a few metres away.

“In Lakhimpur Kheri district, located in the Terai of Uttar Pradesh, tigers roam cheerfully in such sugarcane fields. The video is being told from Kukra area,” says the caption of the video, loosely translated from Hindi.

Indian Forest Service officer Ramesh Pandey retweeted the video with the caption, “Sugar cane is a good habitat both for the preys and predators and therefore human wildlife interface in Terai is high and it goes up in winters.”
“Hope he finds his own territory and grows to be a majestic tiger / tigress. Such a majestic sight,” a user commented. “He looks like a cub is he sir??” asked another.
In July, a video showing a tiger roaming in the field in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district while a farmer ploughs his land in the background surfaced online. The 52-second clip showed a tiger prowling in the paddy field. As the tiger moves about freely in the field, a farmer is seen ploughing his land on a tractor.
