Many are Pessimistic

While Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binjar Pandjaitan said that many parties are pessimistic that the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Train (KCJB) project will be completed. Moreover, he discovered many problems at the start of construction in 2019.

“We found many problems and obstacles starting from classic problems regarding land acquisition, poor coordination to funding difficulties faced due to Covid-19,” said Luhut at KCJB Halim Station, Central Jakarta.

Luhut emphasized that these various problems did not discourage him. In the end, KCJB was inaugurated by President Jokowi today.

Luhut said the presence of the train called Whoosh was a historical milestone for the Indonesian people in the world of modern railways. He hopes that KCJB will be able to encourage people to use public transportation.

“In order to reduce carbon emissions from the private vehicle sector,” he explained.

Luhut said that the public’s enthusiasm for KCJB was very high. This can be seen from the large number of people who want to try it out during the trial period on September 17 2023.

“So we agreed that until mid-October, Mr President, the operation of the Jakarta Bandung high-speed train will still be free or free,” said Luhut.
